The changing use of prescribed benzodiazepines and z-drugs and of over-the-counter codeine-containing products in England: a structured review of published English and international evidence and available data to inform consideration of the extent of dependence and harm (May 2011) 

The National Addiction Centre, in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Bristol and funded by the Department of Health, conducted a review of the changing use of prescribed benzodiazepines and z-drugs and of over-the-counter codeine-containing products in England.

Summary of Findings

The review of benzodiazepine and other prescribed drug review conducted by members of the department in 2011 was a one-off exercise and we have not updated this review since.
