Objectives:

• To define and summarise existing evidence on the impact of interventions to improve palliative care and end of life care on costs, including potential scaleability
• To identify gaps in evidence that may be addressed through future research

Data sources:

• Evidence from existing systematic reviews and primary research studies on the economic impact of interventions in palliative care and end of life care will be sourced, through database searching and drawing on experts in the field.

Policy relevance:

• This evidence briefing will summarise evidence on interventions to improve palliative care and end of life care, and their impacts on cost savings and cost effectiveness.
• The analysis will enable identification of evidence gaps for future research.
