The Dart Group aims to understand how immune cells which reside in the epithelial lining of the human gut maintain homeostasis. Using human tissue samples taken from clinical cohorts we study gut resident cells both ex vivo and in immunocompetent organoid systems. Our experimental approaches focus on identifying and dissecting key pathways which regulate immune cells function and how disruption, and potential restoration, of these pathways have material impacts on intestinal health and inflammatory bowel disease.
