Flu vaccine uptake in people with compromised immunity: risk perceptions, conversations, and lived experiences (FLU-CIRCLE)
We're running a study exploring how immunocompromised people and their close contacts think about and make decisions around the seasonal flu vaccine. It will focus on how people understand their risk from the flu, how necessary they feel the vaccine is for them, what they expect in terms of side effects, how past vaccination experiences shape their views, and what influences their intentions for future flu vaccinations.
We hope the findings will help improve communication and support for people living with immunocompromising conditions.
We’re looking to speak with UK residents (age 18 and over) who are:
- immunocompromised due to a medical condition or ongoing treatment, or
- close contacts of someone who is immunocompromised (e.g., partners, family members, carers)
Participants will take part in a one-to-one online interview (around 60–90 minutes) on Microsoft Teams. The interview uses a story completion approach, where participants are presented with a fictional scenario about flu vaccination decisions and asked to answer questions comparing the scenario to their own experiences.
All participants will receive a £40 VEX voucher to compensate them for their time.
