Maintaining gut health, and preventing gastrointestinal disease are important features of health and well being. Nutrients and food components impact our gut health, including fibre, prebiotics and probiotics, FODMAPs and food additives. Our research aims to understand the molecular, cellular, whole person and population-level mechanisms involved in gut health, and the development and treatment of gastrointestinal disease. It involves understanding the effect of diet on digestion, absorption, transit, microbiome and symptoms.
