The main focus of our research group is to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic, inflammatory and age-related diseases, by integrating large scale multi-omics datasets and to explore how these mechanisms can be modulated through diet and other interventions. Our work centres on three themes:
- Metabolomics in health and disease: examining how genetic and environmental factors shape metabolite profiles, and identifying biomarkers associated with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.
- Gut microbiome, diet, and healthy ageing: investigating how dietary patterns influence the gut microbiome and its metabolites, and how these interactions affect inflammation, cardiometabolic traits, and ageing trajectories in complex diseases.
- Glycans in age-related disease: exploring alterations in protein glycosylation as biomarkers of ageing, menopause, and cardiometabolic risk.
Through this approach, we aim to generate insights that can inform personalised nutrition and preventative strategies for healthy ageing.
