MonoPoly: The monotropism-polytropism spectrum of attention
Monotropism is an attention-based theory of autism first put forward by Dr Dinah Murray, Dr Wenn Lawson and Mike Lesser in the 1990s, and describes individuals whose attention is pulled more strongly towards a smaller number of interests at any given time.
The MonoPoly project attempts to test this theory in the visual domain, and extend it to other neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD and dyspraxia.
Project development includes public and patient involvement groups to ensure the work is rooted in the experiences and needs of autistic and other neurodivergent communities.
Project status: Ongoing
