Comparing the genetics of Systemic lupus Erythematosus (SLE, Lupus) and severe COVID-19 In this study we compare the genetics of severe COVID-19 to those of Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE). Recent GWAS of severe COVID-19 have shown that there is a genetic component to the variability of the clinical outcome. Some of the genetic loci identified unsurprisingly point to pathways involved in the host immune response. Therefore, a comparison between the genetics of severe COVID-19 and Autoimmune Disease (AID) may be enlightening. We find that severe COVID-19 and SLE are genetically correlated. By this we aim to shed a light on the biological mechanisms that participate in both diseases.
