Public awareness, knowledge and trust in palliative and end-of-life care
Background
- There is growing evidence of inequality in access to palliative and end-of-life care among minoritized ethnic groups.
- Less awareness and knowledge about palliative and end-of-life care, and mistrust toward the healthcare professionals among minoritised ethnic groups, may impact on use of palliative and end-of-life care services.
Study design and data sources
- This study will analyse data from a cross-sectional online survey with a nationally representative sample of people aged 18 and over living in the UK, conducted in January 2024.
Policy relevance
- This research will provide up-to-date data on views of, and attitudes towards, palliative and end-of-life care among the public in the UK, and importantly identify whether/how this differs among different ethnic groups.
Aims
- To examine awareness, knowledge, and trust about palliative care provision among adults in the UK, and the association with ethnicity
