Tobacco dependence treatment: patients' and healthcare workers' experiences
Dr Farzana Ali is working on the qualitative component of an evaluation of Tobacco Dependence Treatment (TDT) involving King’s Health Partners (King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts).
This involves semi -structured interviews with patients to understand their experiences of TDT initiated in local NHS Trusts to see how effective they are at helping smokers quit, their perceived barriers and facilitators to uptake of TDT and what smoking outcomes they value most. A project run alongside this involves semi-structured interviews and focus groups with healthcare workers (including tobacco dependence treatment advisors’) to explore their experiences and perspectives of delivering TDT to patients, including the barriers and facilitators in the context of the implementation.
