The major focus of the group is to identify the genes and delineate the biochemical pathways underlying a range of human genetic disorders using both established and novel technologies.

Our major interests include elucidating the aetiology of Mendelian disorders with a complex aetiology, such as pulmonary arterial hypertension and Adams-Oliver syndrome, on a genetic and functional level. Other projects of interest include investigating the causative genetic factors of the common skin disease psoriasis and linkage studies to establish the genetic basis of cluster headache.

Most recently, we have initiated the East London Genes & Health project, a large-scale community-based health research study to correlate genetic and health records of ethnic minority populations in East London.

Graduate students interested in Molecular and Medical Genetics research should contact Dr Laura Southgate (laura.2.southgate@kcl.ac.uk) and attach a recent CV.
