Careers and Employability

Welcome to Kings Careers & Employability. We are a dedicated team of four Careers Consultants that work closely with CDS to provide bespoke careers support for King's Post Graduate Researchers. We offer a combination of online resources, webinars and virtual one-to-one appointments to help you think about your next steps after your PhD and how to prepare for them, as well as helping you articulate your value as a researcher. Workshops and webinars

To view the programme of upcoming Careers & Employability events, please look at the ‘Events & Event Recordings’ tab on our KEATS Careers Support for Researchers pages. You can find a full list of events along with booking information on this KEATS site.

Webinars are up to an hour long and provide an opportunity to gain specific insight into the topic with our trained careers consultants, as well as the chance to ask questions and learn from your peers. If you have any topics you would like us to cover please email anna.favalessa@kcl.ac.uk.

PGR Core Library

The Centre for Doctoral Studies has developed a core library of on-demand courses specifically designed for King’s PGR students. These courses typically take an hour to complete and cover topics across our 8 key themes of doctoral training. See the KEATS course.

Online Careers Support for Researchers

Self-enrol in Careers Support for Researchers developed by King's Careers and Employability service specifically for researchers. You can read researcher alumni case studies, watch previously recorded webinars and find resources to support you such as making applications, articulating your value as a researcher and deciding what comes next after your PhD.

RDFmapped and LinkedIn Learning

As a member of King's you have free access to LinkedIn Learning.  For more information on how to access LinkedIn Learning, see the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning.

One-to-one support

We offer FREE, confidential, one-to-one advice sessions to all postgraduate research students. This year, our one-to-one appointments are all delivered virtually online.

Support with choosing, planning and creating your career

Our careers consultants support you to plan effectively for and manage the transition to your future in or beyond academia. You can book a confidential appointment with one of our impartial, professional and experienced careers consultants, Kate Murray, Donald Lush, Vicki Tipton and Anna Favalessa.  

Appointments are for any conversation relating to your career including CV checks, interview coaching and career decision making. We look forward to meeting you.

Use the search terms ‘internship’ and ‘PGR’ to see what’s available in the jobs section.  Alternatively, search through jobs/opportunities where PGRs are tagged so you can find employers who are interested in PGRs.
