Universite Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III) was established in 1971, following the division of the University of Paris (est. 1253). To a large extent, the University of Paris Sorbonne was the inheritor of the former University of Paris Arts and Sciences Faculties. The University has building throughout Paris, including six libraries. Today, Sorbonne Nouvelle boasts over 20,000 and is considered one of the top 150 universities in the world for humanities and liberal arts.
