About the Institution

The University of Gothenburg was founded as Göteborgs högskola (Gothenburg University College) in 1891. It is the third-oldest Swedish university, and has approximately 25,000 full-time students. It is amongst the largest universities in the Nordic countries, with eight faculties and 57 departments. Its eight faculties offer training in the Creative Arts, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Education, Information Technology, Business, Economics and Law, and Health Sciences. The University of Gothenburg is a pronounced city university, with most of its facilities within the city centre.
