Regulation & Policy

Attendance & Punctuality

King’s Foundations believes that for students to succeed academically, full attendance and engagement with their chosen course is essential.

  • Attendance will be monitored in each class you attend and a register will be taken to provide a record of this.

If you have a valid reason for missing a class, please email your personal tutor and  with relevant documentary evidence (if required and available) prior to the class. If the documentation can only be provided after the missed class, this should be emailed as soon as possible.

  • We will communicate with you regarding attendance or lateness via your KCL email account. You are expected to respond promptly and provide documentation where requested to support your absence notification.

  • Valid grounds for missing classes include sickness and ill health, for which medical evidence must be provided. Holidays and social visits do not normally constitute grounds for absence.

If you have issues or concerns that prevent you from attending classes and would like to discuss them with someone in confidence, contact your personal tutor in the first instance.

Please note that repeated failure to attend classes and lack of communication with King's Foundations may result in:

  • Termination of your studies.

  • Being in breach of your visa requirements and therefore having to leave the UK.

Please take time to carefully review the King's Foundations Attendance & Engagement Policy and ensure that you adhere to the rules and regulations accordingly.

Classes start promptly at the indicated time. Students in the class at the timetabled start of the session are marked as present on the attendance register.

Any student arriving up to ten minutes after the timetabled start of the session is marked as late on the attendance register.

Any student arriving more than ten minutes after the timetabled start of the session will not be allowed to take part and is marked as absent on the attendance register.

If your tutor is running late, you will receive an email via your King’s account. If your tutor does not arrive after ten minutes, please contact
