Modules
Courses are divided into modules. You will normally take modules totaling 180 credits.
Required modules
- Language & Power (30 credits)
- Cultures of Erasure and the Making of the Modern World (15 credits)
- Industries and Technologies of Digital Culture (15 credits)
- The Politics of Queer and Trans Representation (15 credits)
- Crises of State Power (15 credits)
- Racial Capitalism (15 credits)
- Borders and Migration in Global Societies (15 credits)
- Dissertation (60 credits)
There are no optional modules.
If you are a part-time student, you will take your dissertation in your second year. You will also take the 30 credit module in your first year and two of the 15 credit modules in your second year.
Teaching methods - what to expect
Teaching is in person and combines small interactive seminars, workshops, and guided independent study, supplemented by reading and multimedia materials hosted via King’s Virtual Learning Environment.
If you are a full-time student, we will provide you with six to eight hours of teaching each week; we will expect you to undertake 32 to 34 hours of independent study.
If you are a part-time student, we will provide you with two to four hours of teaching each week; we will expect you to undertake 16 to 18 hours of independent study.
Typically, one credit equates to 10 hours of work
