Course essentials
King’s is a leading centre for cyber security teaching and research and is recognised as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security by the UK government’s National Cyber Security Centre. Through our Cybersecurity MSc, you will benefit from research-informed teaching from world-leading experts and develop the advanced practical and technical skills needed to tackle complex cyber security challenges.
You will build expertise across key areas including security engineering, security management and testing, network security and cryptography. You will also explore the wider cybercrime landscape, including its legal and social dimensions, and learn about computer forensics and approaches to investigating cybercrime. The course introduces you to the application of security across areas including malware, socio-technical and cyber-physical systems, social networks, autonomous systems and e-health.
As your degree progresses, you will undertake a major project that allows you to apply the knowledge, skills and techniques you have developed to a cyber security challenge. Your project could involve creating an original piece of software, code or prototype, or carrying out in-depth network security testing. Through researching, designing, developing, testing and evaluating your work, you will strengthen valuable skills in project management, problem-solving and critical evaluation.
The course is taught across King’s College London’s Strand and Waterloo campuses, placing you at the heart of London and within easy reach of the city’s academic, cultural and social opportunities. The Department of Informatics is based in Bush House on the Strand Campus.
