Typically, one credit equates to 10 hours of work. Contact time is based on 24 academic weeks.
Students will have 3-4 teaching days per week and 1-2 days self-study depending on the term.
Teaching
All our teaching staff are active researchers so you’ll have access to the latest knowledge in the subject. Many also come from a clinical background, so their experience helps inform your classes.
Teaching and support is split between King’s and LSHTM. This means you’ll get one seamless course with access to two universities worth of expertise behind it.
Location
This course is primarily taught at the King’s College London Denmark Hill Campus and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London (WC1E 7HT).
Please note that locations are determined by where each module is taught and may vary depending on the optional modules you select.
Degree classification
The students will be classified under a Taught Postgraduate Marking Scheme agreed with LSHTM. Results for modules graded under the King’s grading system will be converted to the LSHTM five-point GPA grading scheme, running from 5.00 (excellent) to 0.00 (very poor fail) and with a pass threshold of 2.00 (satisfactory).
The award GPA is calculated to indicate the student’s standard of performance on the programme and assess eligibility for an award classification of distinction or merit. The award GPA will be calculated as:
Overall Award GPA = (Core GPA x 30%) + (Module GPA x 40%) + (Project GPA x 30%)
Where:
- Core GPA = average of the 4 core Term 1 modules
- Module GPA = average of the 5 Terms 2 & 3 modules
- Project GPA = dissertation project GPA
The final award classifications are Pass, Merit and Distinction. This classification is determined as follows.
| Overall Award GPA | Classification |
|---|---|
| 2.00 to 3.84 | Pass |
| 3.85 to 4.29 | Merit |
| 4.30 to 5.00 | Distinction |
Please see the LSHTM Academic Manual for further details.
