UK applicants
Standard requirements
A minimum 2:1 undergraduate Bachelor’s (honours) degree
If you have a lower degree classification, or a degree in an unrelated subject, your application may be considered if you can demonstrate significant relevant work experience, or offer a related graduate qualification (such as a Masters or PGDip).
Programme specific requirements
2:1 undergraduate Honours degree in International Relations, War Studies, History, Political Science, Strategic Studies, Criminology, Economics, Geography, History, Law, Philosophy, Psychiatry, Psychology, Religious Studies, Social Anthropology, Sociology orTheology.
Applications from students with first degree in other areas, including science, language, and journalism, are also welcome.
In order to meet the academic entry requirements for this programme you should have a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree. If you are still studying you should be achieving an average of at least 60% or above in the UK marking scheme.
Strong references and personal statements are an important part of the application, as is relevant work experience. An alternative professional or other qualification obtained by a formal examination may be approved. Prior experiential learning can also be taken into consideration. Where alternative professional or other qualifications are not available, evidence will be required that you can undertake academic study to the level required. If necessary, you will be asked to submit a sample of written work.
You will also require regular access to a high-specification computer with unbroken broadband internet connection, good time-management skills and confidence in using computers.
A note on online access: The online learning environment through which all War Studies Online programmes are delivered is open twenty-four hours and 365 days a year, excluding notified maintenance downtime.
The structure of the programme of study requires that you have reliable and excellent connectivity and bandwidth to enable you to log in frequently. This is to enable you to participate in the required online seminar discussions, but also to access the learning materials.

Selection Process
Applications must be made online using King’s online application portal apply.kcl.ac.uk and a non-refundable application fee of £85 applies.
We aim to process all complete applications within six weeks; during February and March and over holiday periods, applications may take longer to process.
