Modules

Courses are divided into modules. You will normally take modules totaling 180 credits. 

Required Modules

  • MedTech innovation, ideation, design, and research methodologies (30 credits)
  • Foundations of entrepreneurship and management I: Entrepreneurial strategy and growth (15 credits)
  • Foundations of entrepreneurship and management II: Entrepreneurial finance & marketing (15 credits)
  • Entrepreneurial Leadership (15 credits)
  • Medical Technology Design and Development Pathways from Idea to Impact (15 credits)
  • Project development (group dissertation) (60 credits)

Optional Modules

In addition, students take 30 credits from a range of optional Healthcare Technologies modules which can vary from year to year, but may typically include:

  • Healthcare Software Development (15 credits)
  • Scientific Programming (15 credits)
  • Applied Medical Robotics (15 credits)
  • Advanced Machine Learning (15 credits)
  • Image Guided Navigation for Robotics (15 credits)
  • Quality Management Systems and Regulations (15 credits)
  • Engineering Principles for Bionics and Neurotechnology (15 credits)

Teaching methods - what to expect

Typically, one credit equates to 10 hours of work. 

The total contact time for each 15-credit taught module is typically 20-30 hours. These sessions will include seminars, group and one-to-one supervision, and pitch presentations. Each 15-credit taught module also has approximately 120-130 hours of self-guided learning time.

Project development module are done in dissertation seminar, group supervision and team pitch presentation, dedicating approximately 600 hours of self-study and project work.

We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start. Face to face teaching and project-based learning will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment.
