Career Prospects

Public health is everyone's business. It is “the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the organised efforts of society. It also considers principles of social justice and equity, promoting and protecting better health for all” (Source: Faculty of Public Health). Public health practice is diverse and multidisciplinary, it has three distinct domains of practice:

  • Health Protection,
  • Health Improvement,
  • Health Services.

The three domains are supported and sustained by public health knowledge and intelligence, academic public health, and workforce development. To read more about public health practice, see the information by the UK Faculty of Public Health, the Royal Society for Public Health, and UN Jobs, to name just a few websites.
