Postgraduate Mathematics Degrees
What careers are there in mathematics?
Our graduates develop a skillset which is highly sought after by employers, including in data analysis, optimisation, computation, and analytical and critical thinking. This is ideal for roles in data-rich environments, including in growing sectors such as big data, fintech, machine learning, and AI. Recent graduates have pursued roles as risk managers, consultants, software developers, data analysts and data scientists, for companies including IBM, Lloyds Banking, Barclay’s, FRM Capital Advisors, and the Algerian Space Agency.
Many of our graduates go on to start PhD studies in theoretical physics at universities in the UK and around the world, including in our group here at King’s, for which the MSc is particularly well tailored.
The Careers Service and the Department of Mathematics offer a specifically tailored careers programme for Maths students, which includes skills sessions and visits from leading employers.
