Teaching methods - what to expect
The programme is taught via diverse methods including but not limited to lectures, flipped classroom sessions, seminars, and tutorials and complemented by workshops, and an 11-month interdisciplinary research project in our leading cancer research laboratories.
During the research project, the student will benefit from one-to-one teaching and learn to develop skills in laboratory practice, designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analysing results, discussing the meaning of the data obtained, critically evaluating the data in terms of the broader picture of work in the area, organising time and managing an electronic lab book on a day-to-day basis.
Students are also expected to undertake a significant amount of independent study.
Throughout the year, students will also attend literature reviews and journal clubs that the
labs/departments organise, as well as any other internal or external seminars deemed relevant to students’ projects/assignments.
