Required modules

You are required to take the following modules. If you are studying part-time, you will take the Health Economics, and Healthcare Public Health modules in Year 2.

• Public Health and Primary Care Dissertation (60 credits)
• Basic Epidemiology & Statistics for Public Health (15 credits)
• Prevention & Control of Communicable Disease (15 credits)
• Social Research Methods for Public Health (15 credits)
• Health Promotion and Health Improvement (15 Credits)
• Healthcare Public Health (15 credits)
• Health Economics (15 credits)

Optional modules

In addition, full-time students are required to take two optional modules in Year 1 to bring their total credits for the year to 180 credits from a range of optional modules. Part-time students are required to take two optional modules to bring their total for Year 2 to 180 credits. Optional modules typically include:

• Further Epidemiology & Statistics for Public Health (15 credits)
• Delivering Public Health in Primary Care: from Theory to Practice (15 credits)
• Sociology of Health & Illness (15 credits)
• Global Public Health (15 credits)
