Description

The Marketing MSc/PG Dip/PG Cert from King’s Business School blends economics, psychology, sociology and anthropology to bring you the latest thinking and approaches in marketing. As technology changes, so too do the mechanics  of marketing campaigns. Our curriculum puts these developments into context with both historical perspectives and contemporary critical approaches to the industry. Modules explore the theoretical bases for marketing decisions and how recent advances are changing the way organisations bring their goods, services and messages to the public.

This programme provides a postgraduate-level, research-informed education in marketing within a highly challenging intellectual environment. On completion, graduates will be well suited for a broad variety of roles in marketing, from campaign management to technical roles, along with planning, managing marketing analytics, and account management.

You will be taught through a range of modules that explore essential channels and disciplines within the marketing mix, including Brand Management Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Strategy & Planning, and Sustainability & Ethics. Our theoretical models are underscored with case studies and practical exercises that give you hands-on experience with marketing practices. The course provides access to advanced platforms like Qualtrics survey software and Mintel market data to help provide customer and market insights.

Teaching

This modular course is delivered entirely online, meaning you can study alongside your existing career and life commitments. You will be taught and assessed using a variety of innovative methods designed for distance learning by instructional designers and learning technologists. Teaching activities may include a combination of videos, audio recordings, readings, discussion forums, live webinars, independent research and revision, quizzes and other interactive tasks. Assessment will be made through coursework essays and reports, critical appraisals of published work, self-directed learning activities and other methods tailored for online learning.

Our choice of modules and their content reflects a comprehensive approach to marketing considerations across a variety of sectors. Modules address the central pillars of the discipline, including consumer modelling, strategy and planning, marketing practices, analytics and ethics, leading to a broad variety of output careers.

Students will be assessed using a variety of traditional methods including coursework, essays and reports, as well as innovative online methods, including discussion boards and interactive questions.

Structure

Module details

The course is divided into 12 modules of 15 credits each. As you complete each module, you will earn credits that contribute to your final award.

MSc: 180 credits

PG Dip: 120 credits

PG Cert: 60 credits

The course’s modular structure means that you are able to exit the course with an award provided you have accrued the required credits. For example, students who committed to a full MA but find themselves unable to continue after completing four modules will be able to exit with the PG Cert award.

To be considered for an award you must have passed, to the satisfaction of the exam board, all assessments needed to meet the total credits requirement.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements
Standard Entry 2:1  2:1 undergraduate degree (minimum 60 per cent or above in the UK marking system) in any subject area with relevant work experience. Please note that the Marketing MSc programme is not suitable for applicants with an undergraduate degree in marketing. Though it is not a requirement, we recommend that candidates have some familiarity with statistical analysis software such as Microsoft Excel or SPSS.
Non-standard entry 2:2 with 3 yrs work experience If you have an upper 2:2 (minimum 56%) or demonstrable significant work experience in a related area (3 years+), your application may be considered. Each application is considered on a ‘case-by-case’ basis. Work experience may be in a non-marketing area, though candidates with marketing experience will be given preference. Students will need to provide a CV to demonstrate significant work experience or other evidence that they can undertake academic study to the level required.

This 100% flexible online study course is an intensive modular course. It enables students to manage their study time alongside their work and home life commitments.

Personal Statement No A personal statement is not required as part of your application.
Previous Academic Study Yes A copy (or copies) of your official academic transcript(s), showing the subjects studied and marks obtained. If you have already completed your degree, copies of your official degree certificate will also be required. Applicants with academic documents issued in a language other than English, will need to submit both the original and official translation of their documents.
References No References are not required as part of your application.
Other Yes Please note, applicants may be required to provide a CV upon their application through our King’s Apply portal.

Fees and funding

Fees will be charged on a modular basis at £1,417 per module. The total costs for each course will therefore be:

PG Cert: £5,666 (4 modules)

PG Dip: £11,336 (8 modules)

MSc: £17,004 (12 modules)

Tuition fees may be subject to an annual increase each academic year; this would be in line with King's College London's terms and conditions.

Additional requirements and costs

Students will need access to a computer or tablet in order to complete the course. Although optimised for mobile, we cannot guarantee the ability to complete the course using only a mobile device. Minimum and recommended browser versions are as follows:

Microsoft Internet Explorer: minimum version 11; recommended - latest

You may need to upgrade your browser in the future. Access to a high-speed network connection is also recommended (2.5Mbps minimum). Dial-up, cable, and DSL are not recommended.

In addition to your tuition fees, you can also expect to incur costs if you:

  • Choose to purchase books, ebooks, or articles
  • Incur library fees and fines
  • Print documents or make photocopies
  • Join societies with membership fees
  • Attend graduation
  • Require stationery
  • Choose to travel to the King’s campus

Additional fees information

Your course deposit will be applied as a credit against the cost of your first module. On orientation day, the University will send you an invoice for the cost of the second module, with the due date being five days later.

A standard 14-day cooling-off period will apply from the date of your deposit payment. If you have registered for a PG Dip or PG Cert qualification but decide you wish to upgrade to a higher award you will enter a new cooling-off period at the point of upgrade. To upgrade your course, please speak to your Enrolment Advisor after your start date.
