The Schools and Colleges Liaison team regularly visits schools and colleges throughout the UK, attending higher education and careers fairs and delivering a range of higher education progression talks and workshops to Sixth form students and their parents. Contact us to find out which activities we can deliver to you and your students.

Higher education and careers fairs

We attend higher education and careers fairs throughout the UK for students in Years 11, 12 and 13. A highly trained team of staff or our experienced student ambassadors will be available to advise students and their parents on the opportunities available at King’s, student life, and applying to us.  If you are organising your school or college’s higher education or careers fair, please contact us as soon as you have a date!

Talks and workshops for students

Our experienced Schools and Colleges Liaison team and student ambassadors deliver a range of lively and engaging talks and workshops to students in years 12 and 13, as well as their parents. Talks normally last 30-45 minutes plus a 15 minute question and answer session, but they can be tailored to your requirements.

Recommended for year 12 students at the beginning of their research process 

With 50,000 + undergraduate courses at over 395 higher education institutions in the UK alone, choosing the right course and university can seem overwhelming. This talk will highlight to students the range of options available to them and give them practical tips on how they can choose the right type of course and university for them.

Students interested in applying to competitive courses and universities will get an insight into what makes a course competitive, what universities look for and how they can make themselves stand out among the thousands of applications received every year.

Student life and studying in London

The prospect of studying in London, and the costs associated with living in the capital, can be a concern for some students and their parents. This session outlines what its really like to live and study in London, how it can benefit students’ future careers, what financial support is available and reveal why life as a student really is the cheapest time to live in London! This talk can also be adapted for students attending school or college in London and the surrounding areas.

Writing an effective personal statement

Recommended for students in Year 12 about to start their application

This talk goes into greater depth about what students can do to craft the most effective personal statement possible. It includes practical advice on how students can get started on writing their first draft. This is also available in the form of a hands-on 1 hour 30 minute workshop.

Structuring and editing your personal statement

Recommended for Year 13 students who have started their personal statements

This interactive 1 hour 30 minute workshop follows on from our 'Writing an effective personal statement' talk and is designed for students who have written their first draft over the summer holidays. During this session our Schools & Colleges Liaison team will take an in-depth look into how students can structure their personal statement, discuss what makes an effective introduction and conclusion, and advise on editing and refining what they’ve written to ensure their statement makes an impact.

Multiple mini interviews: interviewing for healthcare subjects

Recommended for students in the first term of Year 13 looking to apply to healthcare courses 

Interviews for healthcare subjects such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy and dietetics are an essential part of the application process at King's. This 1 hour 30 minute workshop allows students looking to apply for such subjects the opportunity to practice their interview skills in a supportive and non-judgemental environment, using real questions posed to previous applicants.

Preparing for life at university

Recommended for Year 13 students who have submitted or are just about to submit their UCAS application form.

Our student ambassadors give a candid insight into what studying at university is really like.  From the transition from school or college to university and the different approaches to learning, to extra-curricular opportunities and living away from home for the first time. By the end of this session, your students should feel confident and excited about attending university.

Welcome to King’s

Recommended for students in years 12 and 13 and their parents

King’s offers over 150 degree courses to more than 30,000 students. This talk allows your students to discover the range of academic and extra-curricular activities available to them at King’s, as well as learn about our fascinating history, starting with our founders King George IV and the Duke of Wellington (then Prime Minister) and bringing us right up to date with alumnus and Nobel Prize for Physics winner Peter Higgs. They’ll also find out which fashion designer created our graduation gowns and our most popular society involving a broomstick!
