Social Mobility & Widening Participation
Discover more about Social Mobility & Widening Participation at King's.
This lecture programme consists of 14 online lectures delivered by practising doctors, dentists, and King’s social mobility staff to create a community of like-minded students who are interested in finding out what it is like to have a career in healthcare and what it takes to succeed.
Watch the video below to find out what to expect from the lecture series programme.
“Just wanted to say a big thank you for letting me onto this lecture series. It has given me a lot of insight and developed my thoughts of going down a dental/medical route.”
This programme is for students in years 11, 12, 13 (and those on a gap year prior to applying to university). You must be studying A Level biology and chemistry and have only attended a non-selective state school since the age of 11. We welcome applications from students across the UK.
The programme takes place as a live stream on Microsoft Teams Live Events. Students will be able to access the lecture via an internet browser on a computer or mobile device.
The lecture series begins in early February and runs until July. The programme is broken up into ‘seasons’ of approximately three to four lectures, with one lecture delivered each week.
The application window for the 2023 lecture series programme has now closed. We will begin recruiting students for the 23/24 programme in November of this year. Please look out for the application form then!
If you have any questions about the programme, please contact Jake Featherstone, Senior Widening Participation Officer (Outreach for Medicine & Dentistry) via email on outreachformed@kcl.ac.uk.
