Want to earn money, develop new skills and help prospective students discover what life at King’s is really like?

We’re looking for enthusiastic current King’s students to join our Student Ambassador Scheme. You’ll represent King’s throughout the year, supporting events and activities on campus, online and occasionally at external venues. You may also help with student communications, content and other marketing activities.

As a Student Ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Earn £15.29 an hour (the London living wage is currently £14.80)
• Choose which available shifts you apply for, making it easier to fit work around your studies
• Gain varied work experience and strengthen your CV
• Develop skills in communication, content creation, teamwork, events and customer service
• Share your experiences of studying at King’s and living in London with prospective students and their supporters
• Meet and work alongside students and staff from across King’s and make new friends!
• Apply to join one or more specialist strands within the scheme to further develop your skills.

How the application process works
All applicants apply for the main Student Ambassador role. This is assessed through your application only and does not require an interview.

If your application is successful, you’ll be accepted onto the Student Ambassador Scheme and will be required to attend one of the following mandatory unpaid online information sessions:

1. Wednesday 21 October 2026
2. Thursday 22 October 2026
3. Friday 23 October 2026

Some specialist strands have an additional selection process. Depending on the strands you select, you may be invited to an online interview between 6-13 November 2026, or your application and submitted content may be reviewed separately during this period. You may also need to attend unpaid strand-specific information sessions, if you are successful.

The outcome of the specialist strand selection process will not affect your place in the main Student Ambassador Scheme.

In order to work as a student ambassador, you must meet the following criteria:

• Every ambassador needs to have a UK bank account
• If you are a current student ambassador who has been living in the United Kingdom for more than 6 months but have now returned back to your home country, you can continue to work as a student ambassador until you have been out of the country for 6 months.

Voluntary opportunities to visit your former school or college

We would welcome students who are thinking of visiting their former school or college to represent King’s by delivering a presentation about life at King’s to prospective students. The presentation may focus on your own personal experiences of studying at King’s, as well as the subject you are studying.

• Why return to your former school or college?
  Through this experience, you will develop transferrable skills that are valued by employers, such as communications skills and public speaking. It provides you with an opportunity to share your experiences and the lessons you have learnt with students who are considering following in your footsteps.
• Who are we looking for?
  Anyone is welcome to represent King’s. All we ask is that you are an enthusiastic undergraduate or postgraduate student who is enjoying your time here and are interested in returning to your former school or college, or a UK school where you have a close link.
  
  For international students, it may be possible arrange visits to your former schools during holidays when you return to your home country. However, we would only be able to reimburse reasonable local travel in your country, and not flights from the UK.
• What is available?
  The work is voluntary but expenses for local travel to any school in the UK will be reimbursed through the provided expenses claim form. Please note that this opportunity is dependent on your school agreeing to host you.
• How to take part?
  If you are visiting your former school or college for any reason, please don’t hesitate to contact us on schools.liaison@kcl.ac.uk. We would be more than happy to support you by providing presentation templates and advice on content, as well as equipment and literature.
