Career Opportunities
Graduates from the MSci Environmental Science programme are well prepared for a wide range of careers across the environmental and scientific sectors. These include roles in local or regional planning, environmental regulation and compliance, environmental monitoring agencies, resource management and climate resilience, as well as positions within government or in private energy, environmental or sustainability consultancies.
Career opportunities span the public and private sectors, national and international NGOs, energy and resources industries, and public or private research institutions.
Skills developed through the programme are applicable to careers in environmental management, in science, research or consultancy.
Students may go on to work in areas such as environmental monitoring, climate change, water resources, natural hazards, or atmospheric science, contributing across scientific, policy, and applied practice settings. Many students may also choose to pursue doctoral research in a wide variety of environmental science-related fields.
An elective programme-specific Internship module offers opportunities to undertake a period of work with an organisation in the field of environmental science, providing industry experience. The internship not only provides valuable career enhancing opportunities but also counts towards their degrees.
