Careers
This Physiology iBSc will prepare medical students with in depth knowledge as to how various physiological pathways and systems are regulated and become dysregulated leading to the manifestation of disease. In many cases a key focus on current therapies as well as potential therapeutic strategies being trialed at the pre-clinical stage is also explored. As one of the core underpinnings of medicine, physiology is integral to many medical specialties and this programme will prepare students for careers specializing in a variety of settings including but not limited to; anaesthetics, cardiology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology & diabetes, metabolic medicine, sports and exercise medicine, geriatric medicine, emergency medicine and general practice.
Graduates are equipped with a variety of transferable skills including data gathering, analysis and interpretation, presentation skills and teamwork. Our graduates are well-qualified to undertake a wide range of careers or training for a higher degree such as an MSc or PhD; with recent graduates continuing to study in medicine, dentistry and other related fields including pharmaceutical sciences, cardiovascular pharmacology and biomedical research.
