Teaching methods - what to expect
Our required modules are project based, so they will focus more on lab work, seminars and self- study more than lectures. Our optional modules will use a variety of these methods.

Your performance will be assessed through a combination of coursework and written/practical examinations. Forms of assessment typically include essays, lab reports or oral presentations.
Modules
Year
Required Modules
You are required to take one of the following modules:
- Research Project in Physiology (45 credits)
- Project Design in Physiology (30 credits)
- Physiology Year 3 Library Project (15 credits)
Optional Modules
Take sufficient credits to bring your total for the year to 120. This must include a minimum of 75 credits in Physiology modules (including the project module), chosen from a range of optional modules which may typically include:
- Cell Physiology (15 credits)
- Reproductive Physiology (15 credits)
- Neuroendocrinology (15 credits)
- Vascular Physiology (30 credits)
- Cardiovascular and Respiratory Control (30 credits)
- Biology of Ageing (15 credits)
- Extreme Physiology (30 credits)
- Endocrinology of Diabetes (15 credits)
- Introduction to Regenerative Medicine (15 credits)
- Muscle (15 credits)
- A language module from the Modern Language Centre (15 credits)
