Pay

Our pay structure reflects the wide range of roles and specialisms at King’s and we seek to pay salaries that are competitive in the higher education sector. Staff employed at grades 1–8 benefit from year-on-year incremental progression. We are an accredited London Living Wage employer.

The King’s framework for pay for all non-clinical professors provides a transparent and objective way of determining professorial pay and pay progression. It is based on research into other universities’ pay frameworks, and on consultation with members of our academic community.

Pensions

You’ll join one of our highly competitive pension schemes: the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) or Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London (SAUL). Additionally, our PensionsPlus scheme offers an effective way of paying into existing pension schemes and increases take-home pay.

Visa and immigration costs

We provide interest-free loans to cover UK visa fees and immigration health surcharge costs.

Travel to work

Our interest-free season ticket loans are a non-taxable benefit.

Cyclists can gain substantial savings on the cost of a bike and safety equipment through the Cycle to Work scheme.

Discounts

Discounts are available through the National Union of Students and the NHS and there’s a 10% discount at King’s shop. You can apply for the STAR Card for discounts around Waterloo and the Team London Bridge DealCard for use around London Bridge and Guy’s Campus.

Giving to charity

You can make tax-effective donations to a registered charity from your salary through Give as You Earn, the UK’s largest payroll-giving scheme run by the Charities Aid Foundation. Details are on the CAF website.
