The Royal Festival Hall

KCL Grad Ceremony

Directions

The Royal Festival Hall is located on the banks of the River Thames at the heart of Southbank Centre, and is accessible by rail, road and underground. You can find directions to the venue on the Royal Festival Hall website. The ceremonies take place in the Auditorium.

Access

If you or your guests have any special needs for your ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, please be sure to notify us when you book for your ceremony so that we can make the appropriate arrangements for you. You can update your booking with these details up to the amendment deadline, or by emailing graduation@kcl.ac.uk once booking closes.

Parking

Step-free access

Approach the Southbank Centre Square via Belvedere Road or the Queen Elizabeth Hall Slip Road. Both lifts can be accessed from this area.

Lifts

There is an external lift via the Artist's Entrance and an internal lift (the JCB glass lift) via the Southbank Centre Square Entrance. The Access Map gives details and locations of the lifts.  

Toilets

There are accessible toilets on every level of the Royal Festival Hall and can be accessed from either side of the auditorium.

Hearing

The Royal Festival Hall uses a Sennheiser infra-red assisted hearing system which is available throughout the auditorium. Headsets can be collected from the Cloakroom on Level 1 up to one hour before the start of the ceremony. This facility is free of charge and there is no need to pre-book.

Seating

Guests in wheelchairs and/or with special needs will be seated with the other guests in their group in areas suitable for wheelchair users. 

Photography

The photography area in the Clore Ballroom on Level 2 can be accessed via the main lifts. 


Food and drink facilities

After the ceremony you and your guests are warmly invited to attend a reception. Please make your way to the foyer areas where light refreshments will be served.

Southwark Cathedral

Directions

Southwark Cathedral is located at London Bridge and is accessible by road, rail and underground. You can find directions to the venue on the Southwark Cathedral website.

Access to Southwark Cathedral is via Green Dragon Court off Borough High Street and then to the South West Doors of the Cathedral ('main doors') and also at the North side of the Cathedral from Montague Close.

Parking

Vehicles displaying the orange/blue disabled badges are welcome to park in the roads near to the Cathedral.

Step-free access

Access to all levels available via lifts or fixed and portable ramps

Seating

Guests in wheelchairs and/or with special needs will be seated with the other guests in their group in areas suitable for wheelchair users.

Toilets

Disabled toilets are located at the West end (ground floor) and East end (basement – via lift) of the Cathedral. Baby changing facilities are available in the toilet at the West end.

Photography and Robing

Access to the robing area is through the main doors to the Henriette Raphael Building. Access to the photography rooms can be gained either via the entrance to New Hunt's House opposite Guy's Hospital or the entrance off the Memorial Garden.


Food and drink facilities

After the ceremony you and your guests are warmly invited to attend a reception. Please make your way to the Memorial Garden, Guy's Campus where light refreshments will be served.

Keat's Café

Located on the Ground Floor of New Hunt's House, Guy's Campus the Cafe serves sandwiches, soup, cakes and refreshments. Open 8am - 6pm.

Located next to Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market is London's most renowned food market; a source of exceptional British and international produce with a variety of restaurants, cafes and food stalls.
