There are a wide range of offers and benefits available to help you with your career or further study.

The AKC (Associateship of King’s College) is available to alumni as a Distance Learning Programme. The AKC remains unique to King’s, and therefore this opportunity is exclusive to our students and alumni. We frequently receive requests from alumni to take the AKC, and especially from those who graduated from other Colleges which later merged with King’s. The fee is just £525 per year for the 2021/2 academic year (£1,575 for the whole course), which is to cover administration costs and other expenses. In 2022/3 the fee will be £550 per academic year (£1650 in total). Please see below for details of how to apply. Places are limited to 50 participants a year, so early application is strongly encouraged. The AKC is a three-year course which students take alongside their undergraduate or postgraduate programme of study, which the Distance Learning AKC will follow. Each year consists of two units. Units are a series of lectures focusing on a particular subject area - for example, Philosophy of Religion, Ethics, Migration, Mental Health, or Art and the Sacred. The first unit is taken in the Autumn term, and the second in the Spring term. Each unit is then assessed by one essay, both of which must be completed by the Easter of that academic year. This marks an exciting development of the College’s distinctive tradition. The AKC is the original award of the College, and has been taught continuously since King’s was founded in 1829. Students who successfully complete the AKC programme are eligible for election by the Academic Board, on behalf of the College Council, as Associates of King’s College. AKC lectures are now followed by over 2000 King’s students and staff each academic year.

Applications for the Distance Learning AKC are now open. You may apply via a simple online process (details below).

If you would like to contact the AKC office, please email the AKC administrator at akc@kcl.ac.uk.

King's Online

King's is a university led by research, and is globally renowned for its expertise in many fields. As such, we would like to reach out to as many potential students as possible, but recognise that not everyone can enrol as a full-time student.

Summer Sessions allow our expert staff within the academic departments at King's to reach out to new audiences during June and July, when the university is at it's quietest. These sessions in turn enable attendees to access cutting-edge research within those academics' particular fields of interest or occupation.

These sessions have been designed with working professionals in mind, from early career academics to business professionals. All attendees benefit from a range of networking, social and cultural activities during the course - including a welcome event and closing ceremony.

Alumni are entitled to a discount on tuition fees.

King’s alumni are entitled to a 15% discount on Executive Education programmes at King’s Business School.

Kogan Page online learning courses provide expert advice to help alumni get to grips with specific workplace skills. King’s alumni can claim a 20% discount.
