Research ethics

In the early stages of planning a research project, you will need to consider ethics procedures. All research which involves human participants or raises other ethical issues with potential social or environmental implications has to be submitted for ethical review.

Research carried out under the remit of the Schools of Humanities, Social Science & Public Policy and Law should be submitted for ethical approval to either the Research Ethics Subcommittee or the Research Ethics Panel for your department (this will depend on the level of risk the project presents which is determined using a checklist found on the application forms).
