How far will a family go to ensure their daughter’s skin never darkens?

The Girl Who was the Color of Nothing is a collaboration between writer Doctor R. Benedito Ferrão and artist Maria Vanessa de Sa, co-authors of two graphic novels.

Using the concept of a children’s story for adults, this reading accompanied by illustrations delves into beauty standards that equate lighter skin with desirability and attractiveness, norms perpetuated by adults to the detriment of the self-esteem of children.
