Jez Turner, U of Nottingham, Embedding Space Education into a Foundation Year

Turner was a secondary school teacher for 12 years teaching Science to GCSE level and Physics at A-Level before joining the Foundation Engineering and Physical Sciences (FEPS) Department in 2017.

Prior to this he worked in the motor industry for 15 years so he now combines my Physics and Engineering skills to support the delivery of the FEPS program.

He is an Assistant Professor in Department for Foundation Engineering & Physical Sciences (FEPS). He supports and mentors students throughout the Foundation Year and produce, and support the making of, video and audio teaching and engagement resources for the FEPS department.

He has have a particular passion for space and have increased the space engineering content in the FEPS modules he teaches. He carries out stimulating and engaging outreach activities externally and internally at the University with the aims of increasing uptake in STEM subjects and addressing the gender imbalance in Physics and Engineering.
