About the speakers

Rafael Chávez, UNAM, Sattelite Missions at UNAM. Rafael G. Chávez Moreno is Assistant Professor at UNAM's Faculty of Engineering. He received his Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from UNAM's Faculty of Engineering. He works at the Aerospace Engineering Department and is in charge of the Model-Based-on-Design Lab, within the Space and Automotive Engineering National Laboratory, located in Juriquilla, Querétaro, México. He is an active member of the Mexican Society of Mechanical Engineering and the space Science and Technology Network. His current research areas include space systems, embedded systems and control systems.

Chantal Cappelletti, U of Nottingham, Satellite Missions at the University of NottinghamPh.D.

Chantal Cappelletti is currently an Assistant Professor at University of Nottingham (UK), where she is affiliated with the Nottingham Geospatial Institute. She received a BSc (2005) in Aerospace Engineering, a MSc (2008) in Astronautical Engineering and a PhD (2012) in Aerospace Engineering all from Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy). Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Brasilia (Brazil) and a visiting researcher at Morehead State University (USA). She is the cofounder of the Italian company GAUSS Srl. She has led 6 satellite projects in Italy (UNISAT program and others) and in Brazil (SERPENS, TuPOD). She was PI of 2 missions concerning cancer cells behaviour in space. She was an Italian Space Agency delegate at the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee. She is member of the International Academy of Astronautics.

Sam Dakka, U of Nottingham, Droplet Combustion. Microgravity Experiments.

Dr Sam Dakka earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park,USA. His expertise is in combustion, propulsion and aerodynamics.

Dr. Dakka pursued microgravity droplet combustion and advanced measurements techniques research at NASA Glenn Research Center in the framework of his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of California-Davis.

Dr Dakka was appointed as Senior Advanced Engineer and combustion Aero Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace and GE-Aviation respectively.

Following his industrial positions, Dr Dakka was appointed a lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, 2014 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer on March, 2015.

Dr Dakka joined The University of Nottingham, 2018 as an assistant professor conducting teaching and research on Aerodynamics, thermofluids, two phase flow, Aero engines and space systemsDr Sam Dakka is a member of the Fluids and Thermal Engineering - The University of Nottingham (FLUTE).
