The School of Politics and Economics will be welcoming MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy in January for a discussion on some of the big issues facing the nation.

Critical Matters: Race, Racism and the Climate Emergency in Britain takes place on 26 January and will see Ms Ribeiro-Addy share her insights on the issues taking centre stage in parliament and how MPs can work to make a difference.

Ms Ribeiro-Addy will take a particular focus on the impact and future of the Black Lives Matter movement in the UK and will also discuss the climate crisis in the wake of the COP26 summit in Glasgow.

Ms Ribeiro-Addy was elected member of parliament for Streatham at the 2019 and served as the shadow minister of state for immigration under former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Before becoming an MP, Ms Ribeiro-Addy was chief of staff to former Labour frontbencher Diane Abbott and is the current deputy-chair of Labour's Socialist Campaign Group.
