TRANSLATION AS TRANSCREATION: A WORKSHOP ON CREATIVE TRANSLATION

In this workshop we will engage with the practice of transcreation. Transcreation involves translating content by making it relevant and effective in the target language and culture (s). As such, transcreation is both a creative act and an instrument of cultural competency. Transcreation theory was first developed in the field of literary translation and began to be adapted for use in global marketing and advertising in the early 21st century

We will practice translating a variety of texts (extracts from novels, poems, ads) from and into a variety of languages, with the help of AI-generated base translations.
