Host: Franca Fraternali

To understand the first stages of enveloped virus infection (i.e. the fusion reaction), one needs to employ an interdisciplinary approach that goes from in-silico methods to structural biology and functional imaging. In this talk we will introduce two model virus systems (Ebola and HIV-1) to better understand their mechanism of entry and fusion employing structural biology and functional imaging. We'll see how the mechanistic information on the fusion reaction is crucial to device strategies to keep these viruses at bay.
