Presentation of the Training in Action project’s work, followed by a screening of Freedom Fields documenting female footballers in Libya.
About this event
We hope you will join us for an evening of Libyan and Tunisian culture and heritage on Friday 15 November 2019.
From 18.00 we will celebrate the work of the Training in Action project. Over the last few years it has built capacity amongst heritage professionals in North Africa, focusing on archaeological recording and heritage management. We will present the outcomes and impacts of the project, showing the experiences of over 70 Libyans and Tunisians during the training and the significant work done by them at their heritage sites. The presentations will be followed by a reception and then a screening of Freedom Fields, a documentary about the struggles of female footballers in post-revolution Libyan. Made by Naziha Ahrebi, the film has been praised for its superb, visually-arresting and intimate portrayal of the subject – both The Guardian and The Times gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
There is no charge for booking but attendance is strictly limited to those who have registered via Eventbrite. On the night, please come to the main Reception of the Strand Campus, where you will sign in and be directed to the rooms.
