Please join us for the launch of the King’s Freezer Challenge 2026!

💻 Online

📅 24 February 2026 | 🕒 10:00–11:30

The King’s Freezer Challenge 2026 is a key initiative in helping to embed best practice across King’s, driving smarter and resilient cold storage that cuts energy use, improves efficiency, and strengthens our sustainability performance, directly supporting responsible research.

This is the third year of the challenge. Last year our labs were saving close to 1000kWh per day by the end of the challenge, and we’re aiming to build on that momentum to make an even bigger impact in 2026.

The launch event will feature a range of internal and external speakers with expertise on best practice in cold storage, covering everything from 4°C fridges all the way down to -196°C liquid nitrogen. There will also be information on the practicalities of taking part in the King’s Freezer Challenge 2026 and wider cold storage initiatives in place across the university.

The meeting will be recorded and transcribed for those unable to attend.
