Join us for the latest in our Future of Legal Practice series with Gregg Rowan, a King's alumnus and a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP specialising in class action litigation. Gregg has conducted the defence of some of the most high-profile class actions in this jurisdiction and also Australia, and is a co-author of the leading text, Class Actions in England & Wales.

In the foreword to that text, Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls, said that class actions have "become a firmly entrenched and increasingly important part of the legal scene in England & Wales" which "are now being brought in almost every conceivable area from international pollution, motor car manufacturing and pharmaceutical claims at one end of the spectrum to financial services, shareholders’ and competition proceedings at the other".

In this session Gregg will discuss trends in class actions and their evolving prominence in this jurisdiction. Drawing on recent decisions, Gregg will highlight how class actions are highly consequential across an expanding range of sectors. They can represent a vehicle for seeking redress at scale, as well as an area of significant risk for businesses, and are a strategic focus for many leading law firms and litigation funders. As consumers, citizens and service users, class actions have a potential effect on us all. Come and hear from one of the leading experts in this field and join us for drinks and Q & A following Gregg’s talk. This event will be of interest to students and practitioners at all levels of subject knowledge.
