Gender equality: what's holding back greater change? - 11 April 2018

Please note that this event has passed.

Women are significantly underrepresented in leadership positions – globally, they make up just 23% of national parliamentarians, 26% of news media leaders and 15% of corporate board leaders.

While the battle for gender equality has been waged for decades, progress is still slow. In the last 10 years, the percentage of senior management roles held by women worldwide has increased by just 1%.

To explore perspectives about what’s holding back greater change, and to discuss how we can better coordinate activity across sectors, we are delighted to host a panel of women who are leaders in their chosen fields:

  • The Hon Julia Gillard AC, the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of Australia
  • Katharine Viner, the first female Editor-in-chief of the Guardian
  • Zamila Bunglawala, Deputy Director, Strategy and Insight, Cabinet Office Race Disparity Unit
  • Joanna Ludlam, partner at law firm Baker McKenzie who in 2016 was named as one of The Lawyer magazine’s “Hot 100” for her practice

This event is by invitation only and places are limited.
