For King's/Language Centre students only

This workshop is designed for students of a Romance language (French, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish) at beginners' level who wish to gain a better grasp of grammar.

What are the Romance languages? No, they’re not “romantic” languages, though they might sound like it! The Romance languages trace their roots back to Latin, and this workshop will unveil their fascinating history and shared linguistic features.
As a family, the Romance languages share many traits: they often sound musical and fluid, and grammatically, they have preserved much of Latin’s synthetic structure.
Together, we’ll explore the historical evolution and key linguistic characteristics that define this language group. Focusing on Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, we will examine their similarities and shared grammatical foundations. By the end of the workshop, you’ll gain insights that can enrich your understanding of any Romance language.
