Idea Factory is King’s College London’s flagship idea generation competition, which aims to nurture the biggest and best business ideas from King's students, staff and alumni that have the potential to grow into ventures. 

We’ll support you every step of the way with our online incubator and a series of workshops to teach you how to validate your idea, pitch it with clarity, and meet like-minded collaborators.

• Launch Event

7th November, 6pm - 7:30pm (Online). 

Come find out what is involved in Idea Factory, hear from past winners, find out what prizes are up for grabs this year and meet a whole bunch of interesting people who are interested in starting something special.

 

• How To Validate Your Idea

13th November, 6pm - 7:30pm (Online).

Learn practical tools for testing whether your idea really solves a problem - and how to collect feedback that shapes a stronger concept

Good ideas are tested, not guessed. This hands-on session introduces practical methods for validating your idea with real users. You’ll explore:

• Why startups fail (and how to avoid the traps)
• The Mom Test approach to customer conversations
• Mapping your assumptions using the Lean Canvas
• Simple tools to capture and interpret early feedback

You’ll leave with a validation plan you can start using right away -- and the foundation for a competitive Idea Factory application.

 

• Customer Discovery 

19th November, 6pm - 7:30pm (Online). 

Discover how to identify and reach your early customers - and learn the art of running great customer interviews.

Customer discovery is at the heart of every successful venture. In this session, we’ll cover how to:

• Define and segment your potential users
• Reach out to people (without sounding salesy)
• Prepare and run insightful interviews
• Analyse responses to uncover real pain points

By the end of this session, you’ll know who your target users are, how to approach them, and how to translate insight into action.
