Natasha Kuhrt, Senior Lecturer in International Peace and Security at the Department of War Studies, and affiliate with the King’s Russia Institute, will present her research on Russia's foreign policy in Asia, and its special partnership with the People’s Republic of China. Dr Kuhrt will touch Russia’s policy towards the emerging Indo-Pacific framework, its regional rivalry with the United States, and its influence with regional powers such as India, Korea and Southeast Asia. An open Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Dr Natasha Kuhrt

Natasha Kuhrt is a Lecturer in International Peace & Security in the Department of War Studies. After gaining a BA first class hons in Russian & German language and literature followed by an MA in Soviet Studies, at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (University of London), she spent several years in publishing before obtaining a PhD at UCL on Russian Policy Towards China and Japan. Dr Kuhrt joined King’s as a visiting lecturer in the Law School in 2002, before going full time in the Department of War Studies in 2009.

Professor Christophe Jaffrelot

Christophe Jaffrelot is Avantha Chair and Professor of Indian Politics and Sociology at the King's India Institute and also the Research Lead for the Global Institutes, King’s College London. He teaches South Asian politics and history at Sciences Po, Paris and is an Overseas Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He was Director of Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Internationales (CERI) at Sciences Po, between 2000 and 2008.
