This event aims to increase knowledge and awareness surrounding different types of inequality which exist in Korea.

South Korea is the country which experienced one of the most rapid economic growth in the world. However, the significant economic growth did not benefit everyone in the country.

Because Korea used the specific strategy to achieve massive economic growth, the state-the bank-chaebols nexus became the centre of the society. Apparently, many middle class people are suffering from those relationship.

In this event, we will focus on four main issues in Korea: migrant labour and racism, labour relations and capitalism, North Korean defector, and gender Inequality and its non-awareness and invisibility. These topics feature dominantly in the popular Netflix Series “Squid Game”.
