Join King's Business School's Dr. Ylva Baeckström and guest speaker Tina Winter to discuss the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own financial future with specific focus on addressing perceived lack of confidence and financial knowledge.

You will walk away knowing more about pensions and investing and feel more motivated to look after your finances. There will be plenty opportunity to ask questions, discuss research and engage with other attendees.

Hosted on the 8th floor of the iconic Bush House, the event is set to be an inspirational evening full of insights and fruitful conversations. There will be welcome drinks from 18:00 with the panel discussion and Q&A taking place from 18:45-19:45.

The evening will continue with drinks, canapes and networking where you can meet our guest speakers and build connections with other King's alumni.

Speakers:

Dr. Ylva Baeckström, Senior Lecturer in Banking and Finance at King’s Business School

Dr Ylva Baeckström is a former banker and fintech entrepreneur, now a psychotherapist, and academic at Kings College London. Ylva in an expert on gender and intersectionality in financial services and entrepreneurship. Her research interests include sustainable investment and finance practices. She aims to create positive impact for the benefit of business, individuals and society.

Ylva delivered a TEDx in 2020, her books Gender and Finance, and Inspirational Investing to which she contributed, were published in March 2022.

Ylva’s academic research includes publications in Journal of Corporate Finance, European Journal of Finance and Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Her research is featured in the media, e.g., Financial Times, Sunday Times, Evening Standard, Professional Wealth Management. Collaborating widely with financial services institutions, Ylva is a highly regarded speaker and contributor.

Tina Winter, Consultant at Balance Wealth

Tina is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. She has had a long and varied career in finance starting out in Tax, working for HMRC and a national accountancy firm, before moving across to financial planning roles with a Private Bank and Independent Financial advisory firms, specialising in Pensions.

In recent years Tina has worked for Balance Wealth Planning in Nottingham, initially as a Financial Planner and now as a Consultant, having stepped away from giving face to face advice as an authorised financial adviser to concentrate on training, and on coaching and mentoring the Balance team.

Tina has trained and practiced in Life Planning, which focuses on the human side of financial planning. It puts people, not products, at the centre of analysis and advice, helping clients meet their goals and unlock the greatest meaning in their lives. She has also undertaken training in Financial Coaching which helps people build a better relationship with money. This has developed Tina’s interest in Psychology and human behaviour generally, especially as it relates to money and financial matters, and she has recently embarked on studying for a Master’s degree in Psychology following on from her first degree in Maths.
